Introduction

We've organized the documentation with:

  • User Guide where you'll find how to use IsardVDI to create desktops, templates, deployments, ...
  • Administration Guide for manager and administrator roles with management advanced administration interface to manage everything. Managers will only be able to manage withing his category while administrators will see everything and also system items like downloads or hypervisors.
  • Install Guide has technical details to install and setup a complete IsardVDI virtualization platform.
  • API is being redone but now has some tips showing how to do everything through the api.
  • In Community you'll find links to keep in contact and contribute to the project.
  • Use Cases are helpful to get ideas you can adapt to your use case.

IsardVDI

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) is a technology that allows users to access virtual desktops that are hosted on a remote server or cloud infrastructure. VDI is becoming increasingly popular in organizations as it provides several benefits over traditional desktop environments, including improved security, easier management, and greater flexibility for remote work.

IsardVDI is an open-source VDI solution that provides a complete virtual desktop infrastructure management platform. It enables administrators to create, configure, and manage virtual desktops and applications for users across multiple devices, regardless of their location. IsardVDI uses Docker containers to provide a lightweight and scalable virtualization platform, which makes it highly efficient and easy to deploy.

Feel free to try it from IsardVDI Gitlab or open us a ticket with your request at IsardVDI Gitlab issues.

Versions

IsardVDI documentation is organized according to the same versioning scheme as the software itself. In the navigation bar, there's a version selector that allows switching between different documentation versions.

Currently, the documentation is divided into two major blocks:

  • Version 14
  • Version 15

This structure exists because the transition from version 14 to 15 introduced a major change in the frontend and user experience. As a result, many instructions, interfaces, and functionalities differ significantly between the two versions.

New features

Within each version, when new features or minor changes are introduced (e.g., between version 15.2.0 and 15.3.0), a label indicates from which version each feature is available. This helps users know whether a feature is compatible with their current installation.

Version range details

  • The Version 14 block includes all content relevant from 14.0.0 up to the last minor release within that series, such as 14.75.0.
  • The Version 15 block covers everything from 15.0.0 onwards.

Example of label:

15.2.17
